The Palazzo Reale, Caserta
Just a short visit in August will whet appetites for a visit when it's a bit cooler...

This is the Palatine Chapel. The guidebook didn't say why it's Palatine. Doing some web research, the official website for the palazzo indicates the chapel was damaged during WWII bombings where the sacred art and furnishing were destroyed. According to the Wikipedia pages, the palace was the filming location for palaces in the Star Wars series as well as MI-III. |

It's a LONG walk (3km up and then 3km back) through the whole gardens. I'll dedicate at least a page to this area once we return to Caserta in the fall.
